Winter Essentials

It's one thing having the perfect jacket for winter but layering underneath, is what makes winter fashion fun! Layering can be achieved to the trendiest standard when your wardrobe is home to key winter essentials. Here is my guide to fun fashion that will allow you to float through the winter in style.

1 - River Island // 2 - River Island
We all love knitwear in our closet to keep us warm as the temperatures drop, but mix it up this year with sweatshirts, they are the ultimate jumper accessory and so easily teamed with skirts, shorts and trousers, they will be your key piece. For extra layering comfort on those super cold days, wear an over sized sweatshirt. I am loving this mixed print/fabric one from River Island.

Florals have survived the summer, but are returning in deeper, darker shades, mustards, plums, greys, reds and navys are great winter colours to keep you on trend.

1 - River Island // 2 - Primark
3 - Missguided // 4 - River Island

Midi Skirts and Leather are everywhere this season and should be on you too! This fabulous skirt from River Island is a perfect example of how to incorporate both looks at once, teamed with ankle boots, sequin sweater and a chunky scarf you will be brightening up a winter's day.

Pink is the statement colour of the season. You will easily find this colour in every fashion accessory possible. The patent look is huge this winter and these chunky shoes will keep your tootsies right on trend.

Camouflage and Animal Print, comes through every season giving us girls the chance to recycle our wardrobe and spare our purses! I adore animal print booties and its a fun way to incorporate it into to your outfit. Ankle boots are great as they go with EVERYTHING!

1 - Zara // 2 - Topshop

Houndstooth is as big this winter as it was last winter. I gave my sister in law my houndstooth cardie. Raging now, can I have it back??! Wear it what ever style you want, trousers, skirts, tights, boots. You cannot go wrong with this print. Add a pop of colour with this trend, just like the blue in this sweater. It's eye catching and fun.

My two absolute favourite trends of this season is the masculine and structured look and of course tartan eeekkk!! Love it so much. I hard to share this amazing suit from Topshop. It ticks all my boxes!

So remember!  sweater, florals, leather, midi, patent, pink, camouflage, animal print, houndstooth, suit and tartan and will be turning heads this winter!

Jungle!

I first saw this jungle print bodycon dress on Guilty Fashion's blog page.  is one of my favourite bloggers. I was gutted to learn her dress from Minusey was discontinued. To my delight I recently saw an identical dress on Missguided's site, obviously I purchased right away! Paired with barely there sandals from Penneys/Primark, its a perfect and unique party dress.

The Lips Clutch

I finally bought a lips clutch. This clutch is my latest addiction and I am totally head over heels in love. It's no LuLu Guiness but Awear is good enough for me! I bought these trousers on impulse last week and I am so glad I did. They are so comfortable and the thick buckled belt is amazing that came with them. It's a very versatile pair of trousers. I wore this vintage jumper my gran aunt gave to me to create a day look. To create a night time look a crop top always looks great with high waisted trousers.  Do you like how I styled it?

Take him out!

Cami - River Island // Jeans-Penney's/Primark
Shoes  - Penney's/Primark // Clutch (old)

Boyfriend jeans have probably got to be the best invention to date. Not only are they pure comfort they are uber stylish and can be worn through both day and night. I love baggy jeans that are still feminine and transforming them into night wear is incredible chic!

I bought these pair in Penneys/Primark a while back and they are an amazing fit. To transform your jeans from day to night, roll the ends up to above ankle level, add heels, pointed courts are huge this season. These also have a midi heel which means no more shin splints! The heel and ankle detail is amazing. To finish off , wear with a loose cami and glitzy clutch!

Pose perfection!

This post is a little bit different! I was asked to write up a post on a guide to simple poses for a few friends who are entering  Simply  Be Curvy 2013. It's very exciting entering theses competitions as they can open unlimited doors for you.

So, if you have been called to the interview round they already like what they see which is a great start! This phase of the competition is for the judges to see your personality and it's your time to shine. When you enter the interview room, the judges's immediately see what your wearing.  They can see if you know your shape, how to dress for it and how confident you are. Here are a few looks I've created that are stylish, on trend and are fabulously figure hugging.

Look 1

Skirt // top // shoes all from River Island
Midi skirts are a great way for giving length. Add court shoes to elongate the legs further. Peplum tops clinch the waste and this paneling effect  will give a perfect silhouette.

Look 2

Jacket // Jeans // top all from Mango
Shoes - River Island

If trousers are more your thing, don't be afraid to wear skinny jeans. Add a plain tee with a bright blazer to get noticed. Wear a cropped jacket to emphasise your curves and teamed with leopard print point courts, they will know you know your style.

Look 3

Dress // sandals all from River Island
This paneling monochrome dress is not only amazing but super figure hugging emphasizing you amazing figure.

Posing

Here is some simple but very flattering poses for your first photo shoot of the competition.

Photos: Digital photography school

1. Is the basic hand on waist. Your hips are the widest part of your body so NEVER place your hands there, ALWAYS on your waist!
2. Slightly point your foot on it's side and bend the same knee. Pull the knee in towards to meet your other leg.
3. This is my favourite pose, raise your shoulder, align your chin over it and slightly drop it, sexy look!
4. Love the over the shoulder look.

Photos:digital-photography school and Modern Photography school
1.If wearing trousers, this is a great simple look, hands in back pockets slightly turned towards the camera.
2. Hand on WAIST and other hand Flat on hip and again pulling your knee in for a feminine pose.
3. This is a little more tricky but makes a great "s" shape. One leg behind the other shoulder width apart, With the leg that is in front drop the same shoulder, creating a curve. With head slightly titled on the same side as the dropped shoulder leave your hands hang freely.
4. Again hand on waist and simple leg behind.
5. Legs shoulder width apart, slightly stick one hip out. With the hip sticking out place hand flat on hip and the other hand flat on thigh.

And practice your walk!

I hope this post helps any aspiring models and best of luck!

Wrap up well in style.

It's official, Summer is over and we are in to September already. It is exciting though as we can now start shopping for our winter wear that's hitting stores right now. A jacket/coat is always a great investment and why not do it in style. Here is my guide to keeping well wrapped up but also staying on trend.

The over sized jacket

1 - Mango // 2- H&M

I adore the over sized jacket. I think this style appeals to a broad audience and not only does it look stylish it allows you to wear heavy knitwear underneath.

Trending colour-Pink

1 - River Island // 2 - ASOS.com
Pink is the must have colour this season. Step out in a bright pink jacket on those cold, dark winter mornings.

Tartan/Grid

1 - Mango // 2 - Boohoo.com //3 - ASOS.com

Be extra trendy this winter with tartan and grid pattern jackets. Coming in all different colours, you will find one to suit and match the style you are after.

Belt it up

1 - Boohoo.com // 2 - Mango // 3 - Mango

The mac will never go out of trend. A belt around the waist gives great shape to show off those fabulous curves. Choose a jacket with PU sleeves for extra detail. If you already have a similar style jacket but it does not have a belt, why not choose a belt you already have in your wardrobe.

The Biker jacket

1 - Boohoo.com // 2 - River Island // 3 - River Island

How fun is the biker jacket? It was cropped for the spring/summer now for autumn/winter elongate it to keep you snug and warm

Animal print

The animal print may not be for everyone but this trend will never get old and will carry you right through to spring

The block jacket
1 - Topshop //  2 - River Island

Block colouring is still in fashion and it is a great way to mix and match colours

The boyfriend jacket

2 - Topshop1 - Topshop //  3 - Topshop

Boyfriend jackets are an ideal way to wrap up in a loose but bulky design ensuring you beat the bitter cold winter air.

The fur coat

1 - River Island// 2 - River Island // 3 - Boohoo.com

There is so many different ways you can incorporate the fur jacket to suit your taste. They can be easily be transformed to suit day to night looks.

The maxi jacket

Asos.com

I am loving the maxi jacket. Great for those wet days. As this jacket is very long, petite sizes should stick to a coat length above the knee.

I hope this guide helps you to buying the perfect jacket x
